The Marginalia Series

Marginalia

The idea here is to make brief comments on (or vaguely inspired by) brief passages from my reading; or, more heroically, to raise the form of marginalium to that of miniaturized essay.

I tend not to leave any real marginalia in my books but simply mark passages of interest with an asterisk and brackets and then copy them out later, along with my own remarks, into a separate notebook that doubles as a journal.  It works for me.  The bits that end up published here are slightly more polished than that.

Personally, I enjoy reading this brief bookish kind of stuff, and it’s often all I have time to write.  If no one else particularly likes reading it, well, perhaps that explains why I get so few visitors at The New Psalmanazar.  But I’m a glutton for obscurity.
